Buffalo Sports Calendar – March 4-11, 2024

Women’s basketball and both tennis teams go 1-1, while men’s basketball continues its tailspin. And the women’s Swiming & Diving team competed in the MAC Championships:

Day one was relays, and UB’s team finished 5th in the 200 Yard Medley, and 4th in the 800 Yard Freestyle.

On day two, Mari Kwak took the gold in 1-meter diving, and more points separated her and 2nd place than 2nd place and 12th! UB’s Presley Dorsett, Sophie Meuwissen, and Maggie Meyers finished 7th, 9th, and 12th in the same event.

In swimming, Marij van der Mast finished 5th in the 500 Yard Freestyle; Clarice Fisher finished 14th in the 200 Yard IM in a crowded field of 16 separated by only 6 seconds; and Mia Naccarella finished 11th in the 50 Yard Freestyle; as a team, UB finished 4th in the 400 Yard Medley Relay.

On day three, Mia Naccarella took the silver in the 100 Yard Backstroke; Vivian Roy and Abbey Malmstrom placed 8th and 13th. Clarice Fisher and Nicole Aguilar finished 3rd and 12th in the 100 Yard Butterfly; Karen Austin and Kasey Keaney placed 6th and 12th in the 400 Yard IM; Marij van der Mast and Abbey Malmstrom finished 10th and 11th, less than half a second apart, in the 200 Yard Freestyle; Grace Rider finished 10th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.

And on day four, the team finished 5th in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, and 4th in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay; there were no individual events. Up next, the team has the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in Princeton, NJ on March 11-13.
