New Movies This Week

Inside Out 2 (in wide release)
Early reviews report that Pixar is back in top form, with this sequel to the 2015 movie about a young girl’s emotions, personified. Ayo Edebiri, Adèle Exarchopoulous, Tony Hale, Maya Hawke, Diane Lane, and Kyle MacLachlan join the cast, along with returning Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black.

Ultraman: Rising (Netflix)
This co-production between Tsuburaya and Industrial Light & Magic is the 44th film in the animated superhero franchise.

Chandu Champion (Elmwood Center, 2001 Elmwood Ave.)
Kabir Khan’s sports drama tells the true story of Murlikant Petkar (Kartik Aaryan), India’s first Paralympic gold medalist. In Hindi with subtitles.

A 73-year old widow has to depend on her 5 adult children after an injury. In Vietnamese with subtitles.

A man pretends to be interested in wrestling to win over a woman who’s a big fan of the sport. In Punjabi with subtitles.

DC Theatricks Benefit (Town Ballroom, 681 S. Main St, 3-7pm, $25)
In March, a four-alarm fire destroyed DC Theatricks, which provided costuming to theaters and the general public for 41 years. This benefit on their behalf includes food, raffles, a silent auction (including signed Bills & Sabres memorabilia), plus performances by Carol Jean Swist Jazz Combo, The Diva Ensemble, Rock Voices, Stonehouse Blues, and 55 Main.
