Seal’s Hammond B-3 has been leading the Jerry Garcia Band for the last 18 years.

A packed lineup of shoegaze and emo.

Desmond Stroll w/Bryan Dubay, Joeyb (Nietzsche’s, 248 Allen St, 8pm, $10)

Bach & Brews (9th Ward, 341 Delaware Ave, 7pm, $15)
Buffalo Chamber Players play some of Johann Sebatian’s greatest hits as drinks are served, in the spirit of Café Zimmermann, where Bach premiered many of his secular works in 18th-century Leipzig.

Atlas Tango Project (PAUSA Art House, 19 Wadsworth St, 7pm, $25 stage/$15 bar)
One of the foremost tango ensembles in the country, the Atlas Project specializes in the music of Agentine composer Astor Piazzolla, and performs original compositions.

Ouija Macc w/Darby O’Trill (Rec Room, 79 W Chippewa St, 6pm, $21, 16+)
Las Vegas MC Ouija Macc broke through with his album Trashfire, and was quickly signed to the Insane Clown Posse’s label.

Friday, 10/20

Buffalo soul group Farrow celebrate their 100th show.

Mary Chapin Carpenter & Shawn Colvin (UB Center for the Arts, 7:30pm, $45)
These two folk music legends share the stage for a night of music and storytelling.

Shania Twain (KeyBank Center, 1 Seymour Knox Plaza, 7:30pm, $56+)
The country superstar arrives on her Queen of Me tour.

Preacher Lawson (Helium Comedy Club, 30 Mississippi St, Fri 7/9:30, Sat 6/8:30, Sun 7pm, $27, 18+)
Lawson has made audiences laugh coast to coast, winning Funniest Comedian in Florida in 2015, and then winning the Seattle International Comedy Competition the following year, and has recently appeared on America’s Got Talent.

Since you can only see the real ABBA perform in hologram form, Abbafab is even closer to the real thing than other tribute acts!

Caña Dulce y Caña Brava (Kleinhans Music Hall, 1 Symphony Circle, 7:30pm, $35/$15 student)
A performance displaying the music, dance, and traditional attire of Veracruz, Mexico, and jarocho culture.

The Music of Horace Silver (PAUSA Art House, 19 Wadsworth St, 7pm, $15 stage/$13 bar)
Star People perform the hard bop composer’s classics, including “Song for My Father,” “Sister Sadie,” “Peace,” and more.

Disintegration w/Dead Letter Office (Nietzsche’s, 248 Allen St, 10pm, $10)
See a tribute to the best possible concert lineup of 1990, as these bands perform songs by The Cure and REM.

Third Friday (The Buffalo History Museum, One Museum Court, 10am-5pm, FREE)
The Museum is free the third Friday of every month, with children’s activities and crafts from 11-2pm.

Science After Hours (Buffalo Museum of Science, 1020 Humbolt Parkway, 6-9pm, $25, 21+)
It’s Fright At the Museum, as the science center stays open late for spooky fare including insects, bats, and other phobia. (and a cash bar to calm the nerves!)

Big Mouth (Netflix)
Nick Kroll’s vulgar, heartfelt teenage comedy is somehow already on its seventh season.

New Movies This Week

Killers of the Flower Moon (in wide release)
Scorsese teams up with his two muses, DeCaprio and De Niro, for a three-and-a-half-hour epic that presents America’s relationship with its indigenous population as epic tragedy.

The Other Zoey (Elmwood Center, Walden Galleria)
A college student wants to challenge conventional norms of romance, but her plans go awry when an amnesiac mistakes her for his girlfriend, also named Zoey.

Nyad (Netflix)
Annette Bening stars as real-life swimmer Diana Nyad, who swam from the Bahamas to Florida, and at age 64 from Cuba to Florida. With Jodie Foster and Rhys Ifans.

Old Dads (Netflix)
Bill Burr wrote, directed, and stars (alongside Bokeem Woodbine and Bobby Cannavale), in this comedy about three friends who realize they’re becoming old and out of touch.

Saturday 10/21

The Picture of Dorian Gray (Alleway Theatre, One Curtain Up Alley, noon-10pm, $20)
A marathon reading of Oscar Wilde’s immortal novel features a cast of 18 actors and proceeds benefit Gay and Lesbian Youth Services of WNY. Seatings every two hours.

Fernway (Iron Works, 49 Illinois St, 6pm, $15/$20 day of)
Alternative rockers Fernway hold their fifth annual Halloween show, along with Eternal Boy, Diyené, America Part Two, and a costume contest.

Deadwolf, The Dirty Pennies, Trauma Cat (Mohawk Place, 47 E. Mohawk St, 9pm, $10/$12 door)
A team-up of bands from Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.

Rayland Baxter (Iron Works, 49 Illinois St, 7pm, $23/$26 day of)
This Tennessee singer-songwriter eschewed the studio, and instead spent a year living in a barn, “with the squirrels and the birds,” to write and record his last album.

Monday 10/23

Riverline Ride (Briar Brothers Brewing, 50 Elk St, 6-10pm, FREE)
The 10 mile roundtrip bike ride through several Buffalo neighborhoods includes two stops, and ends with an afterparty with food, drink, and music.

Tuesday 10/24

Baz Luhrmann’s splashy 2001 musical comes to the stage, with a soundtrack updated for the 2020s.

The ex-SNL comic comes through town on his Survival with Laughter tour.

This Nashville 25-year-old combines outlaw country and Dead-style Americana.

A group of music industry vets team up to play tribute to Frank Zappa.

A night of pop-punk, also featuring House Parties and Face First.

Tennis w/Sam Evian (Asbury Hall, 341 Delaware Ave, 8pm, $25)
Tennis’ earliest singles got them signed to Fat Possum, and the Black Keys’ Patrick Carney produced their second album back in 2012. Their sixth, Pollen, came out this February.

Sammy Obeid (Helium Comedy Club, 30 Mississippi St, 8pm, $27, 18+)
Obeid hosts 100 Humans on Netflix, has appeared on Last Comic Standing, America’s Got Talent, and Conan, and once performed stand-up for 1,001 nights in a row.

Ian McCuen w/Tyler Bagwell, Angie (Nietzsche’s, 248 Allen St, 8:30pm, $8)
