Buffalo Falls to Bowling Green 24-14 In Homecoming Slippery Nightmare

On a rainy October day, the Bulls of Buffalo took on the Bowling Green Falcons in a homecoming battle. The weather presented several challenges for the Bulls offense, including an abundance of interceptions and turnovers. After everything was done, UB walked away with a loss, 24-14, in a slippery nightmare.

The rain’s presence was pronounced early in the game, with three fumbles occurring in the first quarter. Though Bowling Green was responsible for two of the fumbles, only one led to a turnover, in which Buffalo capitalized courtesy of a Cole Snyder 10 yard touchdown run. While Buffalo was pumped that they recovered a fumble, they weren’t pumped when they gave one up. Similar to Buffalo, the Falcons utilized the legs of their quarterback, Camden Orth, to find the end zone. At the end of the first quarter, Bowling Green led the Bulls by a score of 10-7.

The Falcons started the second quarter with an urgency to increase their lead as they had an 86 yard drive that culminated in a Camden Orth touchdown pass to put Bowling Green up 17-7. With a struggling offense, the Bulls found themselves punting consistently leading them to another disaster after a punt off the foot of Anthony Venneri was blocked and returned for a touchdown. Though Cole Snyder would throw an interception late in the second, it wouldn’t come back to bite the Bulls. Going into halftime, the Falcons led by a score of 24-7.

Coming out of the half, the Bulls decided to narrow their offensive game plan and focus on running the ball, which led to their decision to bench quarterback Cole Snyder and bring in junior quarterback CJ Ogbonna. Though Ogbonna would contribute to a touchdown, he would also contribute to two interceptions, leaving the Bulls struggling on offense.

After Ogbonna’s second interception of the game, the Bulls fate was solidified. To further contribute to the Bulls misery, Snyder would return to the game in the final minutes only to throw another interception.

The Bulls celebrated their homecoming game in an embarrassing performance against the Bowling Green Falcons. Five turnovers and four interceptions headlined Buffalo’s disastrous day, a day that they will most likely try to forget. The Bulls are now 2-5 and are set to take on the Kent State Golden Flashes next Saturday, October 21st, at 3:30 p.m. EST. Will it be another disaster?
