Kamala Harris selected Tim Walz as her running mate.

Walz has been governor of Minnesota since 2019. Prior, he served in the Army, taught high school geography and coached football, and served in the House of Representatives. Walz emerged late in the vetting process, beating out Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona.

More than 90 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike on a school in Gaza.

Displaced Gazans were using the al-Tabin school, in central Gaza city, as a shelter. Israel claimed the school was being used by Hamas as a command and control center. The attack marks the fifth strike on a school in Gaza since last Sunday by the Israeli military.

Sheikh Hasina was ousted as prime minister of Bangladesh.

Hasina fled the country after weeks of mass protests led by students, in which hundreds of demonstrators were killed by security forces in a brutal crackdown. She ruled Bangladesh for 20 years with an iron fist. Muhammad Yunus, a Nobel peace prize winner, was named interim leader.
