Former Bull Kristen Sharkey at the helm for the Bulls
Yesterday, the University at Buffalo announced the hiring of Kristen Sharkey as the next head coach of the Women’s Basketball team. The former Bull becomes the 14th head coach in program history, replacing Becky Burke.
Burke leaves to head coach at the University of Arizona after leading the Bulls to their first 30-win season and a WNIT championship in only her third season as head coach.
Sharkey played for the Bulls from 2010 to 2015, averaging 11.5 PPG, 6.6 Rebounds, and 1.2 Assists.
The Bulls will look to continue to build on their recent success as they turn to Sharkey, who has mentored former players to All-Mac selections as well as trips to the NCAA Women’s Tournament.
Sharkey ranks 13th all-time in scoring for the Bulls and was selected as an All-Mac player twice. Sharkey returns to Buffalo after serving as an associate head coach at Syracuse University for the past three seasons.
