The Importance of Mental Health
Everywhere we go, we see billboards and ads that focus on the importance of mental health, stating that it’s a vital aspect of a healthy life. However, despite the outdoor advertising, people still deal with the weight of mental stress. Most likely, it is these ads that people see today that are not enough. People are still harming themselves, whether physically or mentally, and real-life situations occur that are not discussed often.
Celebrities, for example, experience an extreme amount of stress due to their very public lifestyles, the people they surround themselves with, or even the industries that they are associated with; this leads to an immense amount of stress and a decline in their mental health.
These celebrities are human, just like everyone else. They do not bleed a different color because of their status; they, too, go through the simple yet complex emotions that the average person experiences.
Over time,we hear about celebrities, important celebrities I may add, killing themselves. Now you can imagine with all that money and resources they have at their disposal, they can still have negative thoughts like everyone else; unfortunately, some put those thoughts into action. Ads, commercials, and campaigns can only do so much; it is the people in our inner circle who are the true heroes without capes.
The people who are around these celebrities are supposed to be that shoulder that they can cry and lean on, and the safety blanket they can fall on. Athletes deal with something similar, even though we rarely hear that athletes commit suicide. They still deal with stress and being overwhelmed, as well as other things that come with being an athlete. Some athletes retire early (and some at the peak of their powers) because of mental fatigue and burnout. That could be handled differently by the right family support, the right supporting team management, or even giving yourself more rest days to recover; and, most importantly, not having a lot of yes men in your corner. Mental health is such an underrated and overlooked part when it comes to being the best version of yourself, and I feel like this should be the first thing we all should care about. Without mental health, there is no success.
