The #3-ranked women’s basketball team dominated all season, but couldn’t get past #2 Toledo in the semifinal round of the MAC tournament, losing 49-56. Chelia Watson led the Bulls’ valiant effort with 12 points, 5 rebounds, a 4 assists, while Noelani Cornfield and Jordyn Beaty pitched in 10/5/3 and 10/5/0, and Cornfield and Sitota Gines led the team with 3 steals each. The season represents a second-year leap for coach Becky Burke, who led the team to 12-16 last year, their worst season in a decade, whereas this year’s 19-14 with a playoff win would fit right in with the team’s extended fun of success under Felisha Legette-Jack in the 2010s.
The track team competed in the MAC Conference Championships earlier in the week. The team won gold in the men’s 400m medley relay, with Vincent Guaresimo, Fernando Sanchez, Aidan Norris, Collin Stafford, and Kevin Sherry passing the baton.
