
UB’s Spin Boot Camp: The Best Workout on Campus?
Out of all of the fitness recreation classes UB has to offer, the Spin Boot Camp is definitely the most energetic. The high-energy atmosphere fueled by pulsating music and an enthusiastic instructor keeps participants engaged from start to finish.
Sitting in on one of these spin classes was truly a breath of fresh air; the blend of intense cardio with strength training made this course an electrifying experience. Riders pushed through sprints, climbs, and interval bursts, all while being motivated by the instructor’s encouraging shouts and the camaraderie of the class. The energy in the room was truly contagious, making it clear why this class is a favorite among students looking for a refreshing workout.
I went on and interviewed Diana, the instructor for Wednesday’s Boot Camp.
Diana came to America from Munich, Germany only two years ago with her Masters in Sports & Fitness. Her favorite part about running this class is engaging with the students and the atmosphere the class brings.
“Just to be [in] the students’ atmosphere. There’s one-on-one, which is good… The bigger the better” says Diana.
One thing that keeps the vibes up is the TV showing a real bikers’ point-of-view on some beautiful trails. While this is cool, what’s better is the fact that the speed of the biker actually correlates with the classrooms’ average speed. This would definitely keep me engaged, and it truly brings out the motivation in everybody participating.
After the class, I interviewed a student who attends these boot camps frequently.
“[Diana], she’s always happy to be there. Always keeps us hyped up,” says sophomore communications major.
The students seem to really be loving the energy of the class, only further evolving the new dynamics of modern workouts. Who even needs the gym anymore?
“My favorite part is that I can go to my classes in the morning, [then] cool down with a nice workout after,” says sophomore communications major.
With its high-energy atmosphere, dynamic instructor, and innovative use of technology, Spin Boot Camp is more than just a fitness class: it’s an experience. Whether students are looking for an intense workout, a sense of community, or simply a break from their daily routine, this class definitely delivers on all fronts.
Nowadays, there are so many different ways people stay active, and UB seems to really keep up with the everlong changes and evolutions of modern fitness. As fitness trends continue to shift toward engaging, full-body workouts, it’s clear that Spin Boot Camp is leading the way in redefining how our students stay active.
Spin Boot Camp is perfect for both beginners and experienced riders. There really is no pressure whatsoever; you can drop in and out of the class at any time, at your own pace.
