The Old Pink, iconic Allen St. bar, was destroyed by a fire.
The bar was demolished Monday after a fire broke out in the early hours of the morning. The Old Pink was known as a bar “for people who got beat up in other bars,” and was considered a safe haven and second home for many Buffalonians. “It’s the bar that makes you feel like you belong,” said Buffalo resident Olivia Abbate. “You really want to be there. A little piece of all of us left in The Pink.”
President Biden announced new legal protections for undocumented immigrants married to American citizens.
The new system streamlines the process for applying for permanent residency for applicants who have lived in the United States for at least ten years. It is estimated that around 500,000 spouses could benefit. The program marks one of the most significant presidential actions on immigration in a decade.
South Africa’s two biggest political parties, the African National Congress and the Democratic Alliance, formed a coalition government led by Cyril Ramaphosa.
The government, which also includes other smaller parties, agreed to focus on economic growth. The recent national election marked the first time since democracy in South Africa the ANC did not win a parliamentary majority.
