American Horror Story: Delicate

Looking for a spooky binge-worthy tv series this Halloween? Look no further. Charted #2 by BuzzFeed, American Horror Story: Delicate is available to all Hulu subscribers. Just head over to the homepage and select FX where you can find all five episodes of Part 1. Arguably the best cast AHS has ever had, this season stars some of Hollywood’s most famous celebrities including Emma Roberts as Anna Victoria Alcott, Kim Kardashian as Siobhan Corbyn, and Cara Delevingne as Ivy, making this a must watch.

Similar to other seasons, Season 12 emerges with a brand-new premise. A quote from Genesis 3:16 perfectly foreshadows the trouble Anna will endure in her pursuit to start a family. The opening scene is nothing short of terrifying, the protagonist wakes up next to a dark figure. After chasing the intruder out of her lavish Brooklyn apartment, she realizes she is covered in blood. Why is there blood everywhere and where did it come from? We’re left with no answer but rather uneasy and dying to know what happens next.

All five episodes are insanely disturbing both psychologically and physically. Multiple counts of calendar hacking, planted dolls, vanishing stalkers, and bad dreams ensue. After struggling to become pregnant, young actress Anna opts for IVF treatment. She nearly misses her appointment after learning it was suddenly rescheduled without her knowledge. On her way to the clinic, she notices an obscure woman several times. Suspicious much?! The operation room lacks resemblance of one, and the doctors are dressed in red. It’s giving fever dream.

Anna becomes pregnant and is instructed by her doctor to avoid stress. At every turn she experiences the worst, as if someone is provoking her to be stressed. It’s award season, and her publicist, Siobhan, announces the actresses Gotham Award nomination. Lacking the picture-perfect image required by award winners she is confronted by her publicist. Siobhan, sparing any sympathy, cuts to the chase and tells Anna that she needs an attitude change. Everyone believes her stress is unwarranted, increasing the hysteria. No one can comprehend Anna’s belief that she’s being stalked, resulting in her losing trust in those closest to her.

Ryan Murphy knew what he was doing when he chose Kim Kardashian to play Siobhan, and she did not disappoint. Kim’s fierce character steals almost every scene. References to the iconic Marilyn Monroe gown she wore (and allegedly damaged) to the 2022 Met Gala adds to this season’s grandeur. Murphy’s ability to deliver yet another successful AHS season has left audience’s horror craving satisfied.
