Thursday, 10/12

Belfast Girls (Irish Classical Theatre, 625 Main St, Thu/Fri 7:30pm/Sat 3pm & 7:30pm/Sun 2pm, through 10/15, $48/$23 student) 
Five young women board a ship from Ireland to Australia, to escape famine in 1850. As they head for their new home, they each hope they can outrun their past, in this play from award-winning director Kyle LoConti.

Guys & Dolls (MusicalFare Theatre, 4380 Main St, Amherst, Thu 7pm, Fri/Sat 7:30pm, Sat 3:30pm, Sun 2:00pm, $52)
An inveterate gambler has to find a location for a secret poker game in this classic musical. 

Brandy Clark & Lori McKenna w/Brandon Ratcliff (Asbury Hall, 341 Delaware Ave, 8pm, $40)
11-time Grammy nominee Clark has an new Brandi Carlile-produced album of country music, and is teaming up with fellow Nashville songwriter McKenna, who’s written hits for Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Reba McEntire.

Squeaky Feet w/Maufrey (Iron Works, 49 Illinois St, 7pm, $12adv/$15)
These Berklee College of Music grads play music across several genres.

Cobraz w/JIMBO, Whitetails, asalone (Nietzsche’s, 248 Allen St, 8pm, $8)
Cobraz started playing gigs while they were students at Williamsville North; JIMBO come down from Canada to join them.

Friday, 10/13

The Tea Party (Town Ballroom, 681 S. Main St, Fri/Sat 7pm, SOLD OUT)
These multi-platinum Canadian rockers have sold out two nighst at Town Ballroom, but you could probably scare up some tickets if you look hard enough.

The Robert Cray Band (Asbury Hall, 341 Delaware Ave, 8pm, $40/$45 day of)
Blues guitarist Cray has won five Grammies over the course of his career, and is doing a belated tour for his 2020 album That’s What I Heard.

Intrepid Travelers Album Release (Iron Works, 49 Illinois St, 7pm, $12adv/$15)
This local jam band celebrates their new album, with guests Roy G Biv and Cypher.

Snakeland w/Skyway, Personal Style (Nietzsche’s, 248 Allen St, 8pm, $10)
Snakeland are a Buffalo band who describe themselves as “punk rock-adjacent.”

Doobie (Rec Room, 79 W Chippewa St, 6pm, $35, 16+)
We’re not sure, but we think this Ohio rapper might have a subtle pro-weed message.

Wes Montgomery Centennial
(PAUSA Art House, 19 Wadsworth St, 6:30pm, $12.50 bar/$25 stage)
JazzBuffalo celebrates the legendary guitarist’s 100th birthday.

Starship Brigade w/Jupiter Trolley, Slightly Overrated
(Mohawk Place, 47 E Mohawk St, 7pm, $10)
Starship Brigade built this city on psychedelic rock and roll, and don’t get nearly enough credit for that.

Live Band Karaoke (Rec Room, 79 W Chippewa St, 10pm, $8)
Sing your favorite 90s rock and pop in front of a live band.

New Movies This Week

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (in wide release)
The same Taylor who re-recorded her early albums bypassed the studios and went direct to the movie theaters with this big screen version of her latest tour. Get the full experience for a much, much lower ticket price!

The Royal Hotel (North Park Theatre)
Julia Garner and Jessica Henwick have to survive toxic masculinity working at a bar in the remote Australian outback in director Kitty Green’s followup to The Assistant.

Saturday 10/14

The Foolers (UB Center For the Arts, 7:30-10pm, $42.25)
A night of illusionists hand-picked by Penn & Teller: Matt Donnelly, Vinny Grosso, Jessica Jane Peterson, and Alex Ramon.

Girls Night: The Musical (Shea’s Performing Arts Center, 710 Main St, 8pm, $85)
This off-Broadway musical spends a girls night out in a karaoke bar, where a group of friends reminisce, share private drama, and belt their way through favorites like “Lady Marmalade,” “It’s Raining Men,” and “I Will Survive.”

Boo Bash (Buffalo Zoo, 300 Parkside Ave, 6-10pm, $45, 21+)
The zoo welcomes spooky season with an adults-only party. Admission includes three free Halloween-themed cocktails, a fire dancer, DJs, food trucks, and animals on display until dusk.

Lost Kings (Rec Room, 79 W Chippewa St, 10pm, SOLD OUT)
These two LA-based DJs spin electronica and dance.

Dr. M Jazz Combo
(PAUSA Art House, 19 Wadsworth St, 6:30pm, $12.50)
The doctor is in, with a set of sultry jazz standards.

Urban Achievers w/Sinister Urge, Gentlemen of Age, Abandoned Trains

Rochester’s Urban Achievers cover both NOFX and Bad Religion.

Sanctum Collective – House Edition (Nietzsche’s, 248 Allen St, 9pm, $10)
A night of DJs spinning house music

JCC Buffalo 5K (Jewish Community Center, 787 Delaware Ave, 10-11:30am, $20)
Run or walk this family-friendly race that benefits FeedMore WNY, Buffalo City Mission, and Friends of Night People.

Red Clay Strays w/Nolan Taylor (Iron Works, 49 Illinois St, 7pm, $15adv/$25)
The Strays bring their Southern Rock sound from Alabama to Iron Works.

Monday 10/16

Habitat For Humanity Ride (Buffalo Irish Center, 245 Abbott Rd, 6-10pm, FREE)
The 10 mile roundtrip bike ride through several Buffalo neighborhoods includes two stops, and ends with an afterparty with food, drink, and music.

Chew, Yawni, Different Planets, Goodbye Metro
(Mohawk Place, 47 E Mohawk St, 7pm, $10)
Atlanta’s Chew brings their fuzzed-out psychedelia back to Buffalo after a. fewyears away.

Tuesday 10/17

We Came As Romans (Town Ballroom, 681 Main St, 6pm, $27.50, 16+, 12+ w/guardian)
This metalcore band is on their second tour supporting 2022’s Darkbloom, with openers Emmure, Bodysnatcher, and Archetypes Collide.

Brenda Reading is a registered medium who can help you contact the spirit world.

The Steam Donkeys/Rustbelt Comedy Showcase/Spud’s Buds/The Stripteasers
(Nietzsche’s, 248 Allen St, 6/9/10:30/11pm)
Every Tuesday night Nietzsche’s has a steady lineup of music and comedy. No cover for the early shows, $4 after 10:30.

Thank You, I’m Sorry w/Kerosene Heights, Starjuice, Early Worm

Indie rockers Thank You, I’m Sorry just released their third album, Growing in Strange Places.

Wednesday 10/18

Emblem3 (Rec Room, 79 W Chippewa St, 7pm, $28.50, 16+)
These rap-rockers were discovered on The X Factor in 2013, and have been touring ever since.

Bruce Wojick & Will Holton (9th Ward, 341 Delaware Ave., 8pm, $20)
Wojick is one of WNY’s most acclaimed guitarists; saxophonist Holton is a frequent collaborator, who’s also played with the likes of India.Arie and Ruben Studdard.

Buffalo Nichols w/Stephen Babcock (Iron Works, 49 Illinois St, 7pm, $15adv/$20)
Buffalo Springfield were Canadian, Buffalo Tom is from Boston, Grant Lee Buffalo are from LA, and Buffalo Nichols is from Texas. One day we’ll get a Buffalo band of our own! In the meantime, Nichols is brining 19th-century blues into the 21st century.

Survive the Sun, Anthropic, Wasted Space, Bozo

Boston deathcore band Survive the Sun.
