Donald Trump has been indicted for covering up hush-money payments to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels.
Trump is the first ever former president to face criminal charges. While he is expected to turn himself in on Tuesday, he has denied wrongdoing, describing the indictment as “political persecution and election interference.”
Three children and three adults died after a school shooting in Nashville.
The shooter, who was a former student at the school, was killed on the scene. So far in 2023 there have been at least 13 deadly school shootings in the US; there were 51 last year.
Binyamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, agreed to pause legislation intended to weaken the Supreme Court after mass protests.
In addition to the demonstrations, thousands of soldiers and pilots in elite reserve units said they would not report for duty if the law passed, which critics said would substantially weaken Israel’s democracy. The Knesset will reconvene on April 30th.
Finland will become part of NATO, ending its longstanding policy of military neutrality.
Turkey and Hungary’s parliaments have finally ratified Finland’s bid to join NATO, though both countries still continue to oppose Sweden’s accession. After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Sweden and Finland sought to join NATO together.
