President Biden promised that the federal government would protect women who travel for abortions if their state tries to arrest them.

Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last month, seven states have outlawed abortion.

New York State legislators have passed a law banning guns in many public plates, including on public transport and in schools, libraries and hospitals.

The law comes a week after the Supreme Court struck down a NYS law that restricted who could carry a firearm. After signing the bill, Governor Kathy Hochul stated, “A week ago, the Supreme Court issued a reckless decision removing century-old limitations on who is allowed to carry concealed weapons in our state… With this action, New York has sent a message to the rest of the country that we will not stand idly by and let the Supreme Court reverse years of sensible gun regulations.”

Kathy Hochul has won the New York Democratic gubernatorial primary.

Hochul beat New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams and Long Island Representative Tom Suozzi. She will face Republican Lee Zeldin in the general election. Hochul is the first woman in New York State to win a major party’s gubernatorial nomination.
